For many people, the seasons of Advent and Christmas is a busy and sometimes frantic time of the year. Advent 2020 will be no different. Perhaps it will be more challenging because of Covid restrictions. Still, with some careful planning, there is no reason we cannot experience both the joy and excitement of the season, as well as witness the "awesome wonder" of Christmas.

So, let me help you a bit. Here are my "Top Seven"  events here in Thomasville that can help you can have a Merry Christmas. Should you attend any of these events, please follow all Covid guidelines as indicated. Always wear a mask and practice social distancing, as appropriate.

7. Thomasville Christmas Tree Lighting - December 4th on the front lawn of the Civic Center.

6. Cookies with Santa - December 5th, 5:30 - 7:30 pm, at Thomasville Regional Medical Center. This event will occur in 15 minute time slots, so there is limited occupancy. To reserve a time-slot, call 205-393-9896.

5. Christmas on the Corner Drive-thru Parade - December 5th. Drive through downtown Thomasville at dusk to see each corner decorated by local businesses. Santa will be waiting at the end of the route for a treat for your little one.

4. Drive-thru Church Nativities - December 6th. A full list of participating churches will be available at the Thomasville Chamber of Commerce Office.

3. A Dickens of a Christmas - December 12th at the Thomasville Civic Center. There will be limited seating and reservations will be required. For more information call 334-637-3384.

2. Flying Bricks Community Band Organ Concert - December 19th at Thomasville UMC. There will be limited seating for 2 shows. Tickets must be purchased in advance. For more information call Karen Dean at 334-636-5827.

1. Christmas Eve Service at Thomasville UMC - December 24. Service Times: TBD. With the current uptick in local cases of Covid, we are monitering the situation and will soon announce our service times. We will more than likely have more than one service, each with limited seating,  and we will require registration for attendance. Please watch for updates on this event.

And, as a bonus, don't miss the Advent sermon series at Thomaville UMC, each Sunday morning at 10:30 am. We will celebrate the season in person, live-streamed on Facebook Live, and on WDJB 95.5 FM on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.
